Frequently Asked Questions.
-
Do I need to have done yoga before?
No. Yin is suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. You don't need to be flexible — Yin is about finding the right shape for your body, not trying to match the person beside you. -
Do I need to be flexible to do Yin?
Absolutely not! In Yin, there is no one-size-fits-all shape. We work with your individual body, bones and range of movement. -
What should I bring to class?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. Props are provided, although you're welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer. However mine are lovely and spongy perfect for yin :) -
Where are Yin Thing classes held?
Classes are held at The Basin Community House, in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. We welcome people from The Basin and surrounding areas including Montrose, Lilydale, Boronia, Bayswater, Ferntree Gully, Wantirna, Knox, Croydon and Ringwood. -
How long are the classes?
Classes are one hour, with sessions currently offered at 1.30–2.30pm and 6–7pm on Mondays and Thursdays. -
I'm not sure if Yin is right for me — can I ask you first?
Of course. Send me a message — I'm very happy to have a chat before you come along. -
Is Yin just stretching?
Not quite. Yin works differently from a more active yoga class. We spend longer periods in supported shapes, allowing time to explore sensation, stillness and the body's deeper tissues.
“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”
